Update

Well we went to the vet this morning and he was dehydrated again. They put him on a food stimulator and did another iv…

I was concerned why he keeps getting dehydrated which is because of the food. They sent us home and told us if he’s not eating by Monday we are going to have to see what is going on with him.

He hasn’t ate yet today, but the vet sent me with special food and a syringe to try to help him eat. Hopefully he perks up tomorrow.

On another note, after the IV this has been the first time I’ve heard my normally vocal baby meow. I almost cried tears of joy.

  1. Fluids can do wonders so glad your took him in.

I’m assuming AD was sent home to syringe feed him? Great recovery food.

Absolutely do syringe feed him If he doesn’t eat on his own. Hopefully they showed you how.

I’m sorry you guys are going thru this and hope to see he is eating or your are successful in syringe feeding him. It’s a must in cats things can get dangerous quick when they are not eating. What meds is Zazu on?

Eat for Mom Zazu, Mom rest when Zazu does!
    Thanks for the update !

  2. Onsior and Veraflox. They did send AD and syringe. I tried letting him eat different things today so I fed him with the syringe. Again, thanks so much! Having someone who’s been through this process helps so much!

    1. We have had a few members come home with Onsior. I remember one in particular and she had the same issue her kitty did not want to eat at all . She had to syringe feed him.

That is one of Onsior’s side effects anorexia (not eating) If today is not any better I would ask the Vet about Buprenorphine or different type of pain meds. I bet it is his Onsior!

Hang in there this will get better and Zazu will get back to himself!

  3. Not gonna write a kot right now. Just ginna see if “comment awaiting moderation” still shows up. It’s still on the ppst before this ione.

  4. Sorry things are tough right now. Dehydration sucks because it just makes them feel less like eating and drinking. The a/d is wonderful food. You might want to see if your vet thinks mirtazipine might be doable. I have used it in cats and dogs, it can work wonders in stimulating the appetite. I’m not a vet, but I have had great luck with that drug on more than one occasion. Warming the a/d up a little bit might also encourage him to eat it. I hope he starts feeling better soon.
